Clay with Your Food in Association with San Francisco Design Week 2017
Sunday, June 18th, 4-7pm

We are excited to announce our third annual Clay with Your Food for San Francisco Design Week. Three Bay Area chefs will compete in a food-meets-performance-art triathlon in our Richmond studio. Adam Tortosa from Robin, Jeff Russell from Charlie Palmer Steak and Brandon Jew from Mr. Jiu's will prepare culinary wonders in the kiln at 1,000 degrees, throw their own serving dish on the potter's wheel, and plate food on sculpture made by our very own International Clayboy and Vesselist, Jered Nelson. Our esteemed judges this year are Chef Daniel Patterson, food writer Rebecca Flint Marx, and artist Victor Reyes.

The culinary arts have a position on the world stage like never before, and with this exposure comes an opportunity to go beyond what is commercial to something more profound. The purpose of this event is to see what happens when chefs are asked to approach the art of plating and design from outside of their ordinary environments, to push them beyond the edge of what is considered reasonable.

To change things up this year, we are adding poets who will compose on-the-spot verse about the chefs' plated sculptures. Guest poets are Hugh Behm-Steinberg, MK Chavez, and Poet Laureate of El Cerrito, Maw Shein Win.
Tickets, which include street food from San Francisco's beloved Namu Gaji, are available here
